Paralegals are vitally important to the smooth running of a law firm. Their job is to make an attorney’s job easier by taking care of client files, doing research, drafting and editing pleadings, contracts, interrogatories and the like. They attend client and witness meetings, direct other support staff in their duties and may even sit in court to keep exhibits and others documents in order for a lawyer. In order to apply to take courses to become a paralegal, you need to have a high school diploma or a G.E.D.

When you take the course there are books and guides that can assist you in making the most of your lessons. There are Ethics for Paralegals, a Law Glossary of Terms and other source materials. To help you study for the certification exam, there is the CLA Review Manual which covers each part of the exam. You can use the NALA Manual for Paralegals and Legal Assistants which includes all the general skills you have already learned and helps you review those before sitting for the exam. You can also use the “CLA Mock Examination and Study Guide” which lets you take a sample two and a half hour test.

Compared to taking classes at a physical location, online classes are easy on your budget. Tuition includes your course materials when you study online. Try that at a college. There you have tuition, books, meals, gas, clothing, housing, etc. Studying at home or in your car while waiting in the doctor’s office means you can use your time much more wisely.
