When it comes to trucks, you often have purists who will only buy one make of truck and then you have realists who will buy the best truck or the one that best fits their budget. Like every year, 2017 brings with it a new model year lineup, including the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado. So, which should you buy? Should you get the new Ford F-150 in Barrington?

Fuel Mileage

This one is pretty close, but the Ford takes fuel mileage. This is thanks to Ford’s focus on fuel efficiency in all of its vehicles. The 2017 F-150 not only comes with an available Ecoboost engine but also has a military grade aluminum body. This reduces weight which improves fuel mileage. While the mileage will vary depending on how you choose to configure your truck, the winner here is Ford.

Towing Capacity

Again, these are two very similar trucks in size and power, so it should come as no surprise that they are close to a tie again, but the Ford once again pulls ahead. It does this by only 200 pounds, however, since the Chevy is rated at 12,000lb towing capacity and the Ford at 12,200lb. If you are looking for a truck for towing, then you cannot go wrong with either of these, but the extra capacity and fuel efficiency of the Ford give it the edge once again.

Value

At the end of the day, one of the most important factors is value. Not how much you paid for the vehicle, but how much you get for what you paid. Ford, however, wins in both of these categories. The F-150 has a lower starting price than the Silverado and also comes with more standard equipment, making it the better value.

Both of these trucks are excellent choices, but only one of them can be the best, and it is the Ford F-150 hands down. It offers better fuel efficiency, towing capacity, and overall value.
