Designing a Meal Plan That Works

We’ve all heard about the importance of a well-rounded diet, but not everyone understands just how critical it can be to your health. As a rule of thumb, aim to make your plate as colorful as possible (no, candy doesn’t count!). Replace three large meals with frequent smaller ones throughout the day, eating when you are hungry and stopping when you are full. Stock up on fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, and lean meats, but allow yourself the occasional treat in moderation. Remember, discipline before deprivation!

As you adjust your eating habits and make progress on your weight loss goals, you will begin to feel a difference not only in the way you look but in how you feel, both physically and mentally. Stave off illness and injury and ward off weight-related disease down the road with the right nutrition done the right way. More than just fuel for your workout, your diet plays a direct role in your body’s physiological and neurochemical processes. Remember, you literally are what you eat!
