Living off-campus can be an exciting and scary prospect. You’re leaving your home, friends, and family to move to a place with strangers. Once you’ve decided to live off-campus, there are many helpful things you can do to make the transition as easy as possible. Here are some helpful tips to help you settle at Miami University Off Campus Housing.
Choose a Dorm
Dorms are a great option if you’re looking for low-maintenance living. They’re also great if you’re short on space and looking to save some cash. Many colleges allow you to rent a room in a house or a room in a shared apartment.
While this may seem like a good option if you’re going out of state or have a lot of extra space at home, it’s essential to research the housing options and make sure you have a plan for what you’re hoping to find.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for a Tour of the School
Your new school will likely have a school tour available for prospective students. This is a great way to check out the school and feel what it’s like to live there. You might even meet some of your new classmates on tour.
You’ll want to ensure you have the information you need to take the tour, such as the address, directions, and the names and contact info for any emergency contacts.
Add Value to your Apartment by Personalizing it
There are many ways to personalize an apartment or house while living off-campus. You can decorate the furniture and the walls with posters, stickers, and other fun things. You can also add value to your apartment by personalizing your utilities.
