Most times, it takes a lot to make you pay attention to your roof. It’s not until you’ve got leaks or it’s coming down on you that you start taking the idea of roof care and repair seriously. Don’t let it come to that point, though. Before your roof collapses around you, get help. Find and hire roofing contractors to replace it for you. Asking the following questions should help:
Is the company licensed?
Working with a licensed company offers protection and a guarantee that you’re working with a company that knows what it’s doing. If they’ve been in the industry for years, so much the better. Experience is always welcome.
Are
the employees insured?
If
anything happens to any of the contractors while they’re on the
job, having insurance coverage means the insurance company will foot
medical bills and treatment costs, not you.
What’s the best roofing material for my home?
This hugely depends on where you live. Your contractors should know enough to suggest the best type of roofing system sturdy enough to take severe weather conditions in your area.
Did the contractor provide a fixed-rate estimate?
Some estimates are flexible and might not give you the figures you need to come up with the budget. So always ask for a fixed-rate estimate. That way, you know exactly what you’re getting and how much money you’ll be spending on replacing your roof. If budget is tight, an estimate can also help you determine what services you’re paying for and to negotiate for better terms, if not to eliminate certain services.
