When you make the decision to move into an apartment as a college student, you probably think that it will be an easy process. For the most part, it is straightforward and can be done in a short time. However, there are some details that you want to work out before and after moving in to make life a bit easier.

Possible Issues

Before you move into one of the apartments near the UNC campus, you need to take a tour of the unit to make sure there are no issues that need to be addressed. These could be issues with the heating or air, issues with the plumbing, or flooring that might need to be cleaned or repaired. You don’t want to be left responsible for issues that were there before moving into the apartment.

Deposits

Make sure you pay all of the deposits that are due before moving into one of the apartments near the UNC campus. Get documentation that the deposits have been made so that you stand a better chance at getting them back when you move from the apartment.

Rules

If you plan to share the apartment with someone else, then you need to set a few rules for everyone to follow. These could include how the chores will be divided, how and when the bills will be paid each month, and how you’ll handle having visitors at the apartment. If there are any issues with the rules, calmly address them so that you can work through the problems together.
