You want beautiful views, a friendly local atmosphere and great wedding venues. Those and more are enough reasons to tie the knot in Texas. One of the first things you’ll have to check off your to-do list is getting your marriage license in Bexar County. Here are three helpful tips to help you:
Visit the county clerk’s office
You can do this in any of the counties in Texas. Worried about applying in one county and get married in another? You don’t have to be. That’s permissible. However, you will still need to return and file the license to the same county you applied in once the ceremony is done.
Expect a 72-hour waiting period
That’s the normal time frame in the Lone Star State. Take that into account so you’ll know the perfect day to get your license. That also means you can’t get the license a day before your wedding. Set aside a few days – preferably a week – so if there are any problems or issues that might come up, you’ll have more than enough time to fix everything. The last thing you want is to get stressed out on D-Day because you still do not have your license.
Prepare the requirements
You’ll need to make sure you have a complete set of requirements. Incomplete ones will derail the process and could potentially set your wedding date back a few days. Do not allow that to happen. Bring along a valid government photo ID, fill out the application and repeat the oath that’s listed on the application, says The Knot. Both of you will need to sign the application. After that, you’ll only have to worry about paying the fee and you’ll be good to go. Check beforehand to make sure you know how much you’ll pay.
